Criteria for membership of Melbourne's Best:
GEOGRAPHICAL LOCATION
Participation in the group is confined to Bed and Breakfasts within the Melbourne Metropolitan area defined as the region of Melbourne excluding the surrounding regions of Yarra Valley, Dandenong Ranges Macedon Ranges and Spa Country, and Bays and Peninsulas.
AAA RATING
Properties are required to be eligible for, and have or awaiting inspection for an AAA rating of 4 stars or above. Properties who are awaiting inspection may join the marketing group provisionally for one year.
BETTER BUSINESS ACCREDITATION
Properties must be able to show written evidence of meeting the requirements of the Better Business Program.
RESIDENT HOSTS
Guests are assured quality hospitality at a personal level. All properties must be hosted.
ESTABLISHMENT SIZE
The Bed and Breakfasts in Melbourne promote small establishments, which can provide the required level of personal service and local knowledge to guests. The maximum size of a property is 8 rooms.
BREAKFAST
A served breakfast or breakfast provisions must be provided by the host and included in the tariff.
FOOD SAFETY PROGRAM
Hosts have completed an accredited Food Safety Program.
STANDARDS
Each property must meet the quality standards as listed. A new property will be inspected and approved by a member of the existing marketing group.
